This recent story by America Now, reiterates the well-known fact among educators that many children are not adequately prepared for Kindergarten. As advocates for and contributors to the field of education, we are driven by our mission, to provide each student with a solid educational foundation. We believe meaningful, purposeful, constant and early exposure to learning opportunities must be provided. As indicated in the study results, delaying the start of formalized instruction until the kindergarten year can be a costly mistake for any age learner. It is our view that the use of developmentally appropriate materials and resources by both parents and educators will help successfully introduce basic skills, enrich the learning environment and advance the ability to process and retain knowledge.
